家長如何在家協助孩子學習

最近英國朋友的小孩準備要上小學了，朋友參加完學校的家長日後，帶回一本學校給家長的小冊子，裡面內容包括校園環境介紹，教學理念簡述，教室設施照片，學生的權利及義務，還有就是「家長如何在家協助孩子學習」！最後一項是重點！這項學校出給家長的「回家作業」，分享給學校家長，檢查一下，你做到幾點，家長的用心與陪伴是小學教育最重要的一環，也對孩子的終生人格養成有很大的影響，老師再怎麼也不能取代父母的角色，來看一下，英國小學出給學生家長的作業有那一些 - (總共10點，原文及我的翻譯如下）

　

My friends' children are going to study in the primary school in UK soon. This is the booklet they got on the school's "Parents' day". You can see what 'assignments' the school expects students' parents to achieve in home education. Please read the check list below and think about how many things you have achieved with the children together. 

1) Teach your child to dress and undress independent, go to the toilet independent and be responsible for their own belongings.

教導你的小孩如何自已穿衣服和換衣服，如何自已上廁所，還有要保管好自已的財物。

2) Emphasise early verbal expression, reading, discussing ideas, poetry and music (including nursery rhymes)

注重小孩的口語表達，閱讀，與他們一起討論對事物的想法，詩，音樂（包括兒歌）

3) Read to your child and take him/her to the library regularly.

念書給你的小孩聽，並定期帶他們去圖書館看書

4) Hear your child read and discuss what they have read.

讓小孩念書給你聽，並與他們討論他們讀到的內容。

5) Let your child see you read regularly - especially fathers!

請常常在你小孩面前閱讀 - 特別是父親

6) Encourage your child to talk about their school day and share any news.

鼓勵你的小孩分享學校發生的事情，及有關的新聞。

7) Introduce them to new vocabulary in a variety of common settings - shopping trip, car ride, nature walk, visit to the dentist etc...

利用日常生活的各種機會，讓小孩學習新的語詞 - 如購物、開車、郊外踏青、看牙醫、諸如此類的場合…

8) Play simple word games e.g. I spy [1]

陪小孩玩簡單的猜字遊戲，例如 I spy[註1]

9) Provide a variety of books, puzzles and games to promote use of the imagination, logical thinking, drawing inferences and making predictions.

讓小朋友有機會大量閱讀，玩拼圖，及各類益智遊戲，從中訓練小孩的想像力、邏輯思考、歸納能力，及推理能力。

10) Involve your child in regular tasks that include counting e.g. setting the table, handling pocket money etc...

設法讓小孩常常做有關算術的工作 - 如吃飯前，讓小朋友去擺餐具，確定每樣餐具數目是否正確，或是管理自已零用錢的花費，等等…
